Thing 12
Photo sharing is cool! I will definitely use it in my private life. In my classroom, I envision using it to share photos taken in my classroom with the office staff for newsletters in my building and at the district level also. I think that it would be a great way to share with students real pictures of something or a place where they are interested in traveling to. Sometimes kids really don't realize how different other places in the world are...and if we can show them pictures that are taken by other people around the world...that could make a huge impact on their learning. I fear that it would be difficult to regulate inappropriate pictures if I didn't do a search ahead of time for the kids. I don't know what kids of security blockages could be put into place to help prevent kids from seeing inappropriate things.

I agree with you that it can be utilized in your personal life a great deal. I like your idea of sharing for a school newsletter or even with the staff. the inappropriate pictures are the most concerting. I have found that it doesn't matter sometimes what security measure are used, some students can find a way around them.
ReplyDeleteYou may not want to let students on to sites like Flickr, but instead direct them to sites like classroomclipart.com or pics4learning.com that are more kid-friendly. Let's let 2nd graders be kids awhile longer and not expose them to questionable content.
